Thousands of people have been displaced due to conflict and have taken refuge in nearby cities and stay either with relatives and friends or in common places living in pathetic situation.
Serve Afghanistan has previously responded to the needs of Internally Displaced People (IDPs) in Afghanistan in June – August 2021 supporting more than 1300 families with food and hygiene kits. We have experience in doing this and have structures in place with trained staff.
The cost to support one family with food materials and hygiene kits for two months is about $165 (about 120 GB pounds) and for providing non-food items per family is about $140 (about 100 GB pounds). The direct cost of relief materials is 93% of the total cost. The 7% includes survey, needs assessment, and the transportation of materials and admin expenses.
We appeal to you to stand along with us in supporting the needy people at this difficult situation.
You can donate now using the link above or below. Please use the contact form (opens in new window) to send a brief message to us stating the amount, and that your donation is for IDPs so we can follow up later by sending you information regarding the distributions. Thank you so much for your support.
“I am from Laghman province of Afghanistan. Our country has been unstable for many decades. However, the conflict that is happening now is more dangerous.
Back in our village, we never went hungry. We always had enough food from our garden. We also have some livestock. Here, we share a room with our relatives, which is fine with us but it is very hard to find work. My husband is ill and we don’t have enough money for his treatment. My children are still small and cannot work yet.
I am very thankful to your organisation for the relief package, it is a good package.”
“I am from Nangarhar province. Many times, we have been displaced due to violence. We lived near the government check post; the fighting was very intense and so we had to leave our village. I have five children and my husband is disabled. He is not able to work, so our young children used to help in farming.
After the displacement my children are earning by selling ice-cream in water cooler. They earn 100 to 150 Afs but it was not enough for us. We cannot afford to rent a house and so we are living in a tent with our relatives. We never had enough food and our health is also affected.
I am thankful to your Organisation for providing us such as good package of food and hygiene kits. Your assistance is timely and appropriate. I am very happy.”
