Fatima is 38 years old. She is currently residing in Herat city with her family. She is among the thousands of families that have been deported from the neighbouring country. They had been living in Iran for 4 years; however, they had to leave all their belongings and come back empty handed.
They do not have property in the country so they had to live in a rented accommodation. Since her husband is unable to get a steady job yet, they have not paid their rent for last 2 months and this put them at risk for eviction. Her husband has been able to get labour work only for 2 weeks. The lack of income has really impacted their life.
She said, seeing her husband struggle to find work and her children facing hardship breaks her heart. At times she feels there is no hope for the future. It has been emotionally exhausting time for her.
Serve survey team selected her as beneficiary, and she was given 10,000 Afghani on 26th October 2025. With the cash support she was able to purchase some of their essential items & food and also pay off the 2 months’ rent. This support has given them temporary relief, for which she is grateful.
She is hopeful that her husband will be able find a stable job so that they can have a better future and provide for their children.
