Ali Jan is 55 years old, disabled man. There are six members in his family. He is from Noorgal in Kunar Province. On August 31, 2025 Afghanistan was struck by 6+ magnitude Earthquake leading to loss of lives, damage of property and overall huge devastation.
He said, “The sudden earthquake at mid night, changed everything in a few seconds. In the calm night when children, women, young, and old people were fast asleep, the sleep was disturbed by a loud noise and severe shaking. Everyone woke up and started crying and shouting. Some people got injured and many died. Everyone was scared, crying and yelling out of fear. We thought this was the end of the world. The only positive that night was the community came together to support each other. They dug out the trapped people and transported the injured to the nearby clinic. Our family lost everything in a second, our roof collapsed and all our household goods, livestock etc were trapped under the debris.”
Now he lives in Norgal Camp because his house has destroyed in the earthquake.
The project selected him as beneficiary under the criteria of damaged house and disability. He received 20,000 Afghani on 17 September 2025. He is very happy with the support he received from Serve Afghanistan.
