Rahima is 28 years old. There are 7 members in her family (3 Male, 4 Female). She lives in Sakardara district.
Her husband works as a daily wage labourer with his handcart, which provides only a minimal and unstable income. She is a skilled and well-known tailor; she is main provider for her family. However, she lacked proper equipment, which limited her ability to take on high number of orders and attract enough customers to sustain her family. Despite her dedication and long working hours, the financial strain made it extremely difficult for her to provide essentials such as food, clothing, and healthcare for her household. The combination of her husband’s limited earnings and her restricted capacity to expand her business due to insufficient tools left the family highly vulnerable and struggling to survive.
Serve selected her as a beneficiary under the Income Generation Programmes. She was provided Sewing machine kit. As a result of the project’s support and Jahida’s dedication, her livelihood has improved significantly. She now attracts high number of customers and earns between 2,500 and 3,500 AFN per month, a substantial increase from before. This income allows her to meet her family’s basic needs, save for emergencies, and improve their living conditions, bringing greater stability to her household.
The support has boosted her confidence and motivation. Looking ahead, she hopes to expand her tailoring business and hire assistance, creating additional income opportunities for herself and others in her community.
