Mrs Fatima (name changed) is the daughter of Mr. Bakhtiyar. She is 34 years old. She belongs to a very poor family and her husband is addicted to heroin. She has 4 daughters. She lives in Zone 7 of Jalalabad city in Nangarhar province.
She is an expert at needle work. She was sewing Afghan traditional clothes but she did not have the tools to do the work which makes it difficult for her to produce quality items and she also did not have access to market. She had applied to the Directorate Labour and Social Affairs to get help from NGO. The Serve Afghanistan survey team visited her home and recognized her as eligible for income generation program. The project purchased the hand work tools and materials for her and she is engaged in Selma Dozi (embroidery needle work on female dress) work.
With the new tools she is now able to finish one high quality suit (women dress) in a week and can sell it for 3000 Afghani. Her net income per week is 1500 to 2000 Afghani.
She is very happy with the support given to her as she is able meet the needs of her children.
