Succeeding in continuing the education. A story of a Pashai language speaking child

October 19, 2024 -

Bibi Noora (name changed) is the daughter of Mr. Abdur Rahman. She is 9 years old and she belongs to a poor family. Her father is a carpenter, and the family consists of 5 members. She lives in Shewa district. She studies in after-school class of 3rd year 1st semester.

There is no other similar facility provided for the Pashai children beside our project. It is like a bridge between Pashai Community and the government school where the mode of teaching is in Pashto language. Pashai speaking children finds it hard to understand their lesson and often leads to low performance in their exam. This has led many to drop out of school.

The project established the pre-school and after-school classes for both boys and girls in their villages. Here they are taught in the lesson set up by Serve Afghanistan in Pashai. They are also taught Pashto language so that they can speak the language and be able to adjust when they start attending Pashto speaking government school.

Now she can read and write both in Pashai and Pashto language and doing well in her studies in the government run school.
